From The Huffington Post: Since the Emmy ceremony, I have been going back and forth about whether or not I should compose this letter. I try hard in my daily life not to engage in uncomfortable situations regarding race. But sometimes it's very difficult to find other reasons that better explain why certain events play out the way they do. It is impossible for me to ignore the published statistics regarding the number of people of color mentioned, celebrated or honored in the history of the televised Emmys. Up to and including this year, there have been only
53 non-white actors nominated for Emmys out of nearly 1,000 possible nominations in the top four acting categories for drama and comedy.

Bravo to Regina for having the courage to speak out loud what many already know. And I'm glad that she showed the stats, that prove that's not just about Blacks because the stats show that all people of color are under acknowledged by the Emmys.
Only 53 out nearly 1,000 nominees in the drama and comedy catagory are non-white...now that's disgraceful. I knew the Emmys were foul, this is why I've not watched the Emmys in at least 20 years. It may be longer then that because I can't remember when the last time I watched the Emmys.

I will agree that racism exist but these rich black millionaires need to band together and create jobs for themselves. How many more times can you cry racism?? No matter how true it is it's not solving anything. Hollywood is a white racist industry dominated by Jews. Always has been.
I realized black people fought a battle against separate but equal but how much longer are we going to sit on the sidelines waiting for true integration and so called racial diversity. All so called racial diversity has done in Hollywood is bring a few spineless blacks in that reinforce the same racial stereotypes that racist whites have. Put your money together and create your own TV networks and film studios...problem solved.

Dave I agree with you whole heartedly. If some of the Blacks would band together and create our own cirle of theater and jobs, man it would be awesome however, everyone does'nt see the long term , big picture that you and I see. Complaining is easier than action !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you. Why don't these actors get pool their resources together and get thier own studios and distribution system instead of always complaining.
Hopefully if they do come to their senses .they won't put out junk like BET did.

David1 I cannot dispute the wisdom of your words, but I remember when it was tried by, Jim Brown, Richard Pryor, and one other brother I can't remember. Unfortunately Richard was too into drugs, But my point is, Jim Brown realized it a long time ago.

I agree with you. While I agree w/Regina King I feel like people of color do not need The Emmy's to tell us we are worthy of being recognized for the work that is done.
Hollywood is racists and I feel that people of color should get together and do their own thing. That would great!

You hit it right on the money, we need to ban together and make our own change. "God bless a child who got his own". If we truly want change it needs to come from us, there is enough of us in position to do so ! God given us the power, its up to us how we use it. We don't need affirmation from man, God does that with the bless he give us !!

No David, we didn't fight against "separate but equal", we fought against "separate and unequal". Separate but equal is what a lot of us--and I do mean US, because I was one of the ones marching--wanted WAS separate but equal. The right to establish and build our own. The powers that be knew this as much as they knew they needed black labor, skill, creativity and ingenuity to continue to be successful as a nation. WE were the cash cows and still are. What Regina is finally getting, that far too many in this young generation of blacks are lost on, is that the discrimination train never stopped rolling, it merely changed tracks. To quote my son, a screenwriter and poet, "the truth is still the same, only the fiction has been rearranged." Until black people wake up and unplug from the Matrix, (a movie concept stolen from a black writer by the way) the parasites feeding off of you will continue to do so and thrive, while you degenerate, having your sensibilities anesthetized, so you put up no fight or resistance because you don't think anything is wrong. Take a tally though and see if we really are so much better off than yesterday. Aside from counting on one hand the number of shows and movies produced by and about black culture or lifestyle as compared to all others--same movie different director--a simple stroll through black communities will reveal volumes about where we are. Beauty supply stores abound raking in billions but who owns them? How many of these suppliers give back to the community that made them rich? How is it they are selling your own culture to you? Count the number of black owned businesses of every caliber, and compare to the number of foreigners and white Americans in your community and beyond. Is it really because you are too dumb and incompetent to own your own? Is it really because we don't apply for the loans, the grants, licenses or that we are not educated or credible? If we established Black Wall Street in the 20's out of Jim Crow, the richest black township in the world then, and Rosewood and launched Harlem's Renaissance, you think we are not more educated and resourceful now? Who controls your music industry? You black people created jazz, blues, swing, reggae, beebop, ragtime, country, rock, rockabilly, gospel, contemporary gospel, disco, funk,r&b,pop, soul, hip-hop and rap. All the modern dances come from you including breakin, lockin, disco, line dancing, etc. Mike Jackson and Quincy Jones invented the music video, two brothers created cable before the idea was taken over by Ted Turner, Phillip Emeagwali, a Nigerian genius was an early founder of the internet, on and on. Just key word "Black Inventors" to see how the world runs off black genius and yet everyone else benefits from your talent but you. You think that is not by design? At what point do we say ENOUGH? With what black Americans have given to the world, with the money we've spent making billinaires of others, we could have been what we teens asked for in the 50's and 60's: a separate but equal nation, autonomous and independent. Then, you wouldn't need other people rewarding you for the excellence you already know you have. Peace. Dr. Khelama

You are so right about it all. The resources are there and its call the market share......we have it and always have because we are the biggest consumers in the US....thats all we do is buy shit that doesn't matter....just to feel important. If we band together and do what you said we can't fail as long as our SLAVE mentality doesn't get in the way.........oh I mean crab mentality.
