McDonald's 7th Annual 365Black Awards Honor African Americans In Special Way During Essence Music Festival

Comments (3)

Once again, McDonald's rolled out the red carpet during the Essence Music Festival.

This year, the fast food chain hosted its 7th annual 365Black Awards at New Orleans' Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on July 2.

Hosted by syndicated radio personality Tom Joyner and Emmy Award winning talk-show host/actress/comedienne Sherri Shepherd, this year's event honored Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr.; Lieutenant General Russel L. Honoré, US Army (Ret); philanthropists Rodney Peete and Holly Robinson Peete; and National Black McDonald's Operators Association CEO Rita Mack, a New-Jersey-based McDonald's owner/operator

Grammy-award diva Regina Belle opened up the morning's festivities with two stirring ballads, while CNN journalist Roland Martin chatted up a few notables on the red carpet during the VIP Reception.

Black Voices contributor Bridget Bland was there too, with exclusive access to McDonald's continued celebration of African American leaders for their contributions to the community.
