From The Root - Has President Obama killed off the Congressional Black Caucus? From the very beginning, President Obama and his campaign promised the CBC nothing, so no one - not even the 42 CBC members - should be shocked that, at this point, they have gained minimal legislative progress with Obama in the White House and that they have apparently lost much of the influence they had in Washington.
The President and his administration seem to have unique disregard for the CBC. This could be because, at the beginning of his candidacy, many of its members urged him not to run while they publically supported Hillary Clinton's bid for President. Since taking office 16 months ago, he has been slow to meet with the Caucus and when he did it was after meeting with old-line civil rights leaders.
If President Obama does not find a way to empower the CBC, he has effectively neutralized it, not just for the duration of his Presidency, but for future administrations as well. The issue could have repercussions beyond this moment; the after-effects could be even more damaging under a Romney, Pawlenty or Palin presidency. For now, the Caucus is made to sit at the small table and be quiet; under the next Republican presidency it may have to eat outside.

We have to ask, How many members of The Congressional Black Caucus supported Hilary Clinton after President Obama's commitment to run for the United States presidency?
If I have the knowledge of your dislike of me from the words used against me; When we meet, I'm expected to smile and ACT like I'm cool with that? Not happening.
Maybe President Obama should ask the Congressional Black Caucus, "Are you with me NOW, or are you still against me?"

Well said, P0etri...It really hurts when we cannot mesh and work out our differences later like every other ethnicity and nationality do. There are no other groups of people on the face of the earth that will through their own under the bus in front of the world but us, (African Americans) why are we so afraid of supporting each other so that we all can make true gains. I just cry at our behavior towards our brothers of the same “mama.”
We kill each other physically and spiritually, jealousy, hatred, envy, distrust, lack of love, and bad attitudes seems to be the order of the day for our lives. GOD HELP US DOWN HERE, this must stop or we will commit genocide on ourselves
New Mercies everyday
Do anyone hear me!

America itself has historically been a "White Congressional Caucus" it is ridiculous if you think other wise. I also think that it is equally ridiculous for Obama to snub the Black Congressional Caucus because of political differences. Black people helped elect Obama and if it weren't for the black vote he wouldn't be sitting in the white office. He needs to shake off his ego and think about the people who helped elect him and who have historically been oppressed by this country. Wake up Mr. Obama and look at the big picture instead of following the doctrine of Willie Lynch...your people needs you!!

The Congressional Black Caucus is UNCONSTITUTIONAL
according to the CIVIL RIGHTS ACT and I have ask
for it to be done away with using our Federal Tax Dollars along with the Hispanic, and all other ethnic segregated groups in Congress. All the CBC has been in the US Congress for more than 30 years and what have they done for African Americans beside regressed them. This group is self serving and family and friend serving.

I can understand why we need to get rid of segregated caucus in government. Government should never play the race card becasue it represents all under its leadership. However, there is never a need for a White this or that, because the US as we know it has never really represented People-Of-Color. I say this because there was and still is a need for Affirmative Action simply because we are shut out because of our color. I cannot begin to tell you some of the racist comments I have experiences as a young black professional female. A White Senior Manger made a very sexually suggestion to me and when I complained to HR they told me that is not what he ment. So pardeon me for saying that if White America would judge us on the content of our abilitues an not the color of our skin, then I totally would agree with you. I do however agee that this has no place in government. As for BET, MTV was not giving us any media time and it spured the need for BET. Get it? We had to bring our own.

CBC members where elected by people from their state and their legislative district. Take a long walk in these members district and see how they have turned for the worse since the Civil Rights Act of 1964, look at the drug infested areas in their districts, and the homelessness, then ask the Congress member to see their tax returns, and the tax returns of their Family Members. Obama did not run as an African American, he ran as a American for all the people. He has a right to come from among their ignorant selfserving wantabees. They got to Congress and forgot what they where elected to do and that is to take care of their DISTRICTS not the African American Race. These nuts do not speak for me or mine! They have had over 30 years to make a difference now they want Oabama to make a difference in a day. COME FROM AMONG THEM PRES.
