My Hairstyle Today: Frizzy hairdo thanks to a little Nioxin Bliss and Curly Pudding

I'm back with another favorite hair product of mine. My last product pick – Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding – was less than well received. I read a lot of feedback from relaxed women who were less than concerned about the product geared towards naturals but I had to play fair, right? Hopefully, I'll have better luck this time. My latest love affair is with a product for both relaxed and natural heads – though relaxed ladies may find it works better for them.
I first came across this product when I attended 'hairpreneur' Glynn Jackson's Golden Scissor Awards held in Washington DC a couple of years ago. If you haven't been to a hair show just once in your life I strongly urge you to attend. This merger of fashion, hair and choreographed dance is quite amazing.
Back to the topic at hand.
I snagged this hot product as a freebie for attending the event and almost gave it away to a friend. I would have made a big mistake because ...
Relaxed & Natural Daily Oil Cream Moisturizer is now a staple in my closet. At the time I was ordering a product
called Ultra Black Hair Conditioner from Cathy Howse. She has built herself an empire on good products and dispelling black hair myths (scroll down on this page and check out these photos, BV). I still patron Cathy's online store but when I don't have time to wait by the mailbox for my goods I get my hands on Daily Oil Cream Moisturizer. Both products have the same consistency and both are great for dry hair in desperate need of a
little moisture. In fact, when I applied the Pantene product on my dry ends recently I also realized it's a great sealer for my broken ends.
However, the same rules from Mizani's H20 apply here. Apply too much and you're left with heavy wet hair that will sizzle under your curling iron. I apply very little from root to end and use a magnetic roller to keep the curl in place. Then, I wrap my hair at night to lock in the moisture. The next day I have a nice, bouncy curl and my hair doesn't have that greasy feeling.
Where to Buy It
To redeem myself from the Surge fiasco I located this product online at Walgreens and the link works. It retails for $4.99. I have also seen it at CVS drugstores and Target and Wal-Marts with an 'ethnic aisle' as some call it (remind me to tackle that one in a future post).
Anyway, I would love to know who owns this product and get your take on the results. Please make use of the Comments section below.

I have to give kudos to Miss Jessie's products. The Buttercreme and Curly Pudding are excellent for sisters on the natural side. My grandbaby has a full, wild head of combination hair (African, Asian, Puerto Rican) and Miss Jessie's Baby Butter Creme melts the tangles by applying with fingertips and then brushing it through. It also enhances the natural curl in our hair.

I am a bit confused, last year Oprah had her hair stylist (Reggie) come out to take a bow. This was on her "After the Show" & people had repeatedly been complimenting her on her hair. Well, after Reggie came out, he was hit with MANY questions about black hair care & stayed for most of the show. I distinctly remember his top TWO things that Black women need to remember when choosing hair products.
1) The FIRST ingredient listed needs to be water!
2) Never buy anything with petroleum or mineral oil in it! They are the 2 worst things for our hair.
I then did some research on the web & found many opinions in agreement.
Well, much later I saw a "B Smith" segment about black hair.
HER expert highly recommended the Pantene line of products as the best items currently on the market for black hair.
I next time I was shopping for "new" hair care products I checked out the ingredients for Pantene Daily Oil Moisturizer. IT HAS MINERAL OIL! So, I put it back!
SO, tell me... is mineral oil bad for our hair or not???
BTW... I recently decided to go natural & my hair has been growing like crazy!! I've got a big (and getting bigger) curly Afro that I just love and get so many compliments on. My sista co-workers have asked me what am I using to get it to grow & so fast. I tell them... NO MORE RELAXERS FOR ME!!
I also have to mention, I am surprised by how many men (especially, brothers) really think my hair looks sexy?! I get a lot of "Tanika Ray" references. As I really just love her hair, that is quite a compliment!
