My Hairstyle Today: Curly 'do thanks to Curly Pudding

Our very own Marcus has a blow-by-blow of the events and performances out of MTV's VMAs but I'm covering what's important to me: hair, of course. Some of music's hottest artists hit Vegas to steam up the stage and hopefully walk away a winner but if we were going on hairstyles alone not everyone would be going home with a Moon Man.
Click on the link to check out which hairstyles made some winners and other losers.
I'm going to start off on a positive note and lead with the winners. You can tell from past posts on shoulder-length sisters that I am in love with Rihanna's raven bob. It's refreshing to see artists go shorter when other stars can't step away from the extensions section. To spice things up just for MTV, the queen of summer's earworm 'Umbrella' added a silver highlight. At first I thought something was in her hair but after awhile I figured out that the skunk stripe was supposed to be there. It was a daring move but I give her credit for trying and not taking the contrast too far (take a hint Remy Ma).
Never one to be upstaged by the Barbados beauty – or anyone for that matter – Beyonce brought out the Greek goddess up'do. It's such a welcomed departure from her normally five-foot long tresses. This half-up-half-down curly look was perfect for the occasion. I especially loved how she pulled the whole look together with the gold Roman-inspired gown.
Now for the bad news – because when there are winners there are also losers. Click on the button below to see whose stylists should be standing in the unemployment line tomorrow.
I saved my favorite for last. The formerly braided beauty who goes by the name of Alicia Keys proves once more that she's all grown up. There's no better way to make a statement than to go with the simplicity of a ponytail. It's a bold move that few can carry off.

I think that everyone's hair looked good and to Champion.... Females should do their hair for them not for "dudes" because guys are very visual....it doesn't matter how nice your hair looks it doesn't make you a better person. I saw nothing wrong with Alicia Keys or Mary's hair. They looked nice and simple and approachable. Besides the next time you see them they will not look like that anyway.

First of all, Champion, we are "ladies" not "chicks". And for the record, we do our hair and make ourselves up because we have pride in our appearances. Not because we want to attract guys, you jackass. PS: Rihanna's hair looked fabulous!

I think that Mary should have went with a color more closer to her skin tone. I wish that, we as black women, learn to be more comfortable in our own skin (and hair); I mean, even though Mary has learned a lot about herself there is still more that she needs to learn. I also love Beyonce's hair with those earrings.

Remember people, I am not my hair!!. That's cute and everything to have your hair fixed up but, your hair does not make you the person that you are, it just an extension of yourself.

Mary J Blidge Har lokks so pretty, that color and style looks so good on her, anyone who says otherwise is just jeolous, she is a beautiful girl that can wear any haie out there, and that does not mean she does not like her blackness, so come give it a rest. you have some of our own with purple hair, blue hair, green hair and very dark skinned now thats nasty. #6 SOMETIMES our own skin and hair needs help and whats wrong with that.
that color goes very well with her caramel complexion, not everyone can wear that color but they try, all I can say is she wears it well.
so leave mary alone she LOOKS FANTASTIC

LOL! It kills me how expressing your opinion makes you jealous or a hater. How uneducated and immature is that? We live in a pluralistic society, my opinions don't necessarily have to mimic yours. Let go crabs! Stop trying to hold others down in the barrel.
All of the ladies were beautiful and our guys represented well, imho. I would like to see Bey do something new and shocking (in a good way) for once. But, they looked good. Alicia is really glamming up these days. Good for her.
