There was a great article in today's Washington Post about the last episode of the HBO drama 'The Wire.' The show, which starts its fifth season on Jan. 6, wrapped up filming on their final episode ever on Saturday.
Season 5 will be about the media and what stories get told in the inner cities and what stories don't.
Hands down, the best show on television in my opinion.
For more on 'The Wire,' check back next week for a Top 11 list on why 'The Wire' should win for Best Drama at the Emmy Awards.

Sad to see the Wire go--
Although, I'm just not sure about this season, since they've already killed off Stringer and Bodie. We really don't know what's going on with Avon and Wee-Bey is still in jail. Although, I would like to see if Marlo and Prop Joe get taken out in one last hurrah!

I love the Wire and I do not think the show gets the respect that they have shown towards the Sopranos, Big Love and Entourge (whatever). I find it interesting that show aspects of city life and how things happen or don't happen. I have enjoyed all the series and of course I was upset about stringer and bell but as in life we all have a cycle. I hate to see it go but at least I have the first 3 sessions on video and I am looking forward to getting the 4th and 5th.

I'm a Bmore native born and bred, still reside here. I think the show does an amazing job of showing the depth and feel of Baltimore. It's a complex show about complex people. It's phenomenally well written and the actors are amazing. I've had the pleasure of interviewing Simon and I have much respect for him and his partner Ed Burns.

Quite simply THE BEST urban drama ever created. From writing, to casting this show IS what TV should be.

THE best show on TV. I thought that the show would be whack with Stringer and Avon gone but the last kids cast was great. So I think that whatever direction the show will take will be good as usual.
