Celebrity tabloids may have tagged Julia Roberts as 'America's Sweetheart' but they cheated actress Gabrielle Union out of title. She's not out of luck, though. Union snagged the title of Best Tressed this week, making her the second recipient of the hair blog's coveted award. Find out why and click on the link below.
Gabrielle Union's radiant smile and youthful looks scored her a role in 'Bring It On' and her mischievous characters in 'Two Can Play That Game' and 'All About Eva' proved there are many layers to this talented diva.
However it's her work off the set that has been keeping the thirty-four year old actress in the spotlight. From her many appearances on the red carpet to being romantically linked to an NBA player, Union can't help but keep her name in people's mouths.
Thank goodness she keeps her mane under control.
Now, before you slam the comments section with a debate on whether or not her hair is real or fake, it's Gabrielle's style that earned her this award. Instead of taking her extensions to the next level, Gabrielle opted for a length far more realistic and steered clear of the peroxide that so often tempts most starlets. In addition, versatile hairstyles keep the focus on her features. Her layered cut and texture translate well on both relaxed and natural heads and while I'd love to see the actress go much shorter in her next role, Union's look and locks have worked for her thus far.
Now it's your turn. Does Union deserve the award and if not, who does? Also, take a look at the last Best Tressed Award recipient.

In a society that regards the publicly promiscuous and the visual of ladies that expose all but their wisdom teeth as media worthy celebs, Ms. Union is a refreshing ray of light...I absolutely love her face and her skills as an actress. Of course, all that would include her locks, as well...she manages to keep it looking natural and healthy. Continued success and God bless!

Thank God for young women like Gabrielle Union. She is young, gifted, beautiful and Black, and she's making her mark. I think the world of her. Unless given a role that requires a certain change of character (dying the hair blonde, etc.), don't change your style for anyone. Most of the great actresses of latter days, never looked anything like the women who call themselves representing us today. Look back at Dorothy Dandridge, Pearl Bailey, and others in the movie "Carmen" they were slamming. Look at the "bling" they were wearing. We are out of touch with ourselves. Too many 'Black dollars" are being spent on hair that do nothing but denigrade us as black women. In essence, what it boils down to is fanatsy and pretention. Pretending to be something that one is not. Adding insult to injury, these colorful characters are influencing young Black girls out here, and even little children. I see little 5 year old's and up walking around with extentsions down their backs. For what? This is sending wrong messages. Self-awareness is the key issue here. So, hang in there 'Gabbie' and keep on doing your thing. You're shining like a real star.

She is my SHEro, Now I'm not a weave person, but her style is great. I started using a skin line that she is an spokeperson for, and it has done wonders for my face.

Before she had money, she did not look like this, she bought her a whole lotta weave and got a good stylist ! We are both from the Northside in Omaha and chicks from back in our younger days would get clowned or beat up for wearing all that fake a$$ HAIR !! Keep it hood girl, but not ghetto fabulous. Even though she looks good now, why not wear your REAL hair like in The movie with you and Jamie Fox where the other guy made having long hair an issue. I thought you proved that black women don't have to have hair all down their backs to be beautiful and get a cool looking black man ??

I see quite a bit of gossip on BV but I haven't seen anything at all about the Jena6. I was really surprised to find out about what was happening in Jena, LA to 6 young Black Men and nothing about it in this website. Aren't any other people of color interested?????

In regards to Gabrielle - I don't care call it what you will. The Girl got it going on and I got her back what ever it is it's working for her, y'all just try to keep up, and if you don't have anything positive to say try shuting up. That always works for me.

Union hair is beautiful why when black women fix themself up we as black people have to make sure the world knows that it is not their hair so what you did not paid for it if you got the money for those natural styles go for it I enjoy looking at those stars with the beautiful hair And she is beautiful.
