Before we head into the weekend, I thought I would post this week's product pick. This one comes straight from the Dominican Republic and is a favorite used in many Dominican salons. Click the link below to discover why this conditioner is my personal favorite and even gives Salerm 21 a run for its money.
Nacidit's Aceite de Oliva is a tongue twister but its results are worth the embarrassing looks. What's great about Aceite de Oliva is it's packed with moisture – my biggest challenge. I think we can all agree that whether we're relaxed or natural we could all use a bit more moisture (unless you've got that good hair). All joking aside, I find it to be a great solution when used regularly. I bounce between this and Salerm Wheat Germ Mask. Either are a must, in my opinion, for the first wash following a chemical application such as color or a touch up.
How to Use It
When it comes to application, it varies. A friend of mine treats it like a shampoo, applying it and rinsing it out several times. I apply it as a deep conditioner and leave it in for fifteen minutes while I sit under a hood dryer. I have also read online that some users treat it as a relaxer. If you frequent Dominican salons I'd suggest taking it with you and requesting that the shampoo girl apply it and give you a few tips.
Where to Buy
Because this product comes from abroad it may be impossible to locate at your local beauty supply store. However, I have located it online at Round Brush Hair, the same site that brought you the Dominican Salon locator. Copy and paste the product name into the search window and be sure to check out the other products while you're there. I'm not familiar with most of them but have a feeling I will be doing some experimenting in upcoming weeks. Also, don't be turned off by the price. I usually have sticker shock as I'm the queen of cheap but I will cough up a couple of pennies when I know I won't be disappointed. Still having doubts? Check out some photos here.
If you have a jar of Aceite de Oliva in your closet post your results in the Comments section. Have a favorite product you'd like to share? Add that as well.

Honestly it's a bit frustrating. My hair seems to do alot of growing but also a lot of breaking. Last week's product seemed like an answer to my prayers and I was calling all over the US trying to find that Surge Plus 14. Really are there no good products that can be aquired in my local beauty supply stores.

This is the first time I have heard of the Dominican products, although I have heard of folks going into the Dominican salons in NYC and getting their do done well. I even went and checked out the site with the products, and I put the item on a wish list. I thank you for telling me about these products because I would like my do looking good too.
