That lasted all of 39 minutes.
The first two seasons, Mo'Nique hosted a beauty pageant for only fully-figured women.
Great concept, actually.
Larger women don't get enough love.
But this season, the series expanded from a two-hour special to seven one-hour episodes with the 10 aspiring beauty queens competing for the crown in Paris, France.
This is where they lost me though.
During the show, the five girls went to taste desserts.
(Let me remind you, the show is called F.A.T. Chance.)
When that waiter was pouring that chocolate sauce on the ice cream, I thought Ngozi was going to fall out from happiness. Does Mo'Nique have a responsibility to promote on shows that feature full-figured women, a semi-healthy eating lifestyle?
That dessert scene was mild compared to the fried chicken promo that Mo'Nique did later on in the show.
If you were watching the show and didn't know any better, you would assume that larger women all just love the fried chicken and stuffing their faces with sweets - when that's not the case for some.
Yes, this is not Celebrity Fit Club.
And yes, we should embrace larger women.
But obesity, especially within the African-American community, is too much of a problem to just ignore.
That's all I'm saying.

i really think that monquie is doing a goog thing for plus size woman. as a plus size woman i know that i am a very pretty lady and has been told so by all.i do not need anyone to tell me that i am fat i already know that tell me something i do not know.people come in all shapes and sizes it is how you feel about you not what another person see i let know one stop me .it takes a good man to have a plus size lady and yes i do get the good men and they look good and work and treat me like a phat ass queen.

Monique ..sadly is just yet another "overweight" BW (77% of BW in the US are overweight)! She should be promoting eating healthy foods, and getting out doing more physical activities ...instead of trying to continually justify not addressing their "NEED" to drop some of that tonage! It's a very serious health issue concerning BW! So, tell me why isn't she not investing that time to better educate these black women? What's up with that? frankly, I'm tired of seeing all these overweight...no just plain fat black women all over the place! It's just plain embrassing!Perhaps because she's also "FAT" too!

Monique is only liked by all those other "overweight" black women that are fat just like her! She talks way too much just like most black women do! Nuff said!

I understand what Monique is trying to do. Getting the full-figured women to embrace their bodies and feel more confident, but it should also promote the women to become healthier. No, not a size 2, but definetely out of the obesity categories. It is about time that there is a tv show helping women to have more self-esteem!

There's a big difference between being full figured and fat. These women are fat. I am for people loving themselves for who they are, but I am totally against promoting a unhealthy lifestyle. Monique has now gone overboard. Monique is not helping women, she is hurting women.

Though I respect everyone's opinion...I have to say that it annoys me when people accuse Monique of glamorizing being overweight. So doesn't America's Next Top Model glamorize being skinny? I mean Tyra and her crew are constantly telling those women that they are gaining weight (Anyone seen Jaslene lately). So what the women were eating dessert; overweight people can't have dessert? Everyone is not a size zero (only Nicole Richie and all of you talk about her). And being obese, fat, whatever you want to call it, is not, within itself a death sentence. All of these women are beautiful and they deserve to be showcased. So what they have some additional weight on them. Worry about the smokers who smoke in the house with their children and cause them all types of cancers, or the drunk who leaves the club in their car and kills an innocent pedestrian, or what about the drugs that infest our communities, or the gang wars that take the lives of our youth, or the cops that are killing our people, let me not forget the videos that our children are attempting to emulate with the sex, drugs, and death. Worry about all of the seventeen year old children in junior high school. All of those are more harmful, more dangerous, more lethal, than Monique helping to build the up the self-esteem of women of whom been emotinally torn down their entire lives because of their weight. Get a grip...

I say yes to fat chance, it must feel good to be who you are and not give a dern who likes it or not.I say live and love one another and except people for what size they are. It's your thang, do what you want to do. Not being healthy does'nt have a size it effects all sizes.

The first rule of love is "Learn to love yourself!" These "Big Girls" are probably filled with stories of abuse and neglect. They have eaten their way to their current state. Mo is doing something never seen before on television. Shaq is doing the same thing just with kids. Nobody is disposable. We are all unloved for some reason. We are too skinny, too lazy, too stupid, too dark, too Ghetto, and sometimes way too negative to be motivating others to find love. I'm always supportive of ways that spread love. Imagine the winner of this contest going on in 5 years to help us all lose weight. Don't limit her possibilities because of her past. Think forward and we won't go back to the old stereotypes that divide us. This is the problem with "Hot Ghetto Mess!"

So if they were skinny women eating dessert would it have been better? I get so tired of big women being criticized for what they eat. I know plenty of skinny women who eat burgers, fries, chicken, ice cream and cake on a regular basis and constantly say they can eat it because they won't gain weight. Does this make them any healthier? No it doesn't. They end up with health problems too. Would you rather have seen them killing themselves taking only diet pills and drinking Slimfast? Get off of their backs. Monique is doing is a wonderful thing, bringing back the self-esteem that these women lost because people like you constantly criticizing and making them feel like second class citizens because of their size. Until you walk a mile in someone else's shoes, you can't begin to imagine what they have gone through.
