ABC should just rename 'The View' to 'Da View' because they just got really black - - really fast. Everybody Hates Marcus reported in June that Whoopi Goldberg was set to join 'The View' in September, but now word is Sherri Shepherd will also join alongside Goldberg.
Talk about a package deal.
Goldberg has been hosting a syndicated morning radio show called "Wake Up With Whoopi," which reportedly she will continue to do along with her newly acquired television duties.
Shepherd is probably best known for her role in 'Beauty Shop' and 'Who's Your Caddy,' which opens this weekend, along with her gig on 'Less Than Perfect' on ABC.
According to the LA Times, "final negotiations with the duo are underway, and an announcement of their hiring is expected next week, according to a person familiar with the discussions."Most viewers of 'The View' expected at least one female African-American voice to replace Star Jones Reynolds who left in 2006.
But two sistas?
Outspoken and funny at that?
Kudos to ABC for thinking outside the box in this hire.
Even Rosie O'Donnell, who left the show after just one season, has openly endorsed the hire of Goldberg on her blog, explaining that the 51-year-old comic "would rock."
Rock on, then.

At first, Sherri sounded a little unwordly and politically out of her league (e.g. the "world is flat" comment and the "rich white folks store" anecdote), but she is coming into her own. And Whoopi is a much more humble moderator than Rosie O'Donnell was.

I am so glad it is not going to be an all white show any longer. We need our View out there also represented. I have met Sherry Shepard in Person at a conference and she is a really nice, she kept us all laughing even in a small group so much I almost peed my pants. She is a real God given joy.

Can hardly wait to see the cat fights between Whoopi and Elizabeth. Elizabeth thought she had it bad with Rosie, but wait until Whoopi comes on board.

I saw Sherri on a L.A. news show and calling her a coon is an under-statement. She is typica, fat dark black and coonish. The woman is dumb-that is a pure affirmative action gone wrong move on the part of the VIew. The last thing black people need is another over weight black female cooning on t.v. She has point of view-EVER and I think she was even a coon in "Who;s your caddie" Black females dont need this woman repping them.

Whoopie is not even pretty and her lips are too black and she should put a straight perm in her nappy hair and she always wear those dumb glass pulled down low on her eys and her teeth is brown and yellow. They should have had a prettier woman than Whoopi and Sherri is too fat with big tiddies on national tv. I think they could have chosen much prettier ladies like the light-skinned woman who is dating Eddie Murphy another light-skinned woman.

I truly do not believe that the comments made by "Anonymous" and so called "Shaniqua" were made by African Americans. Please do not use these boards to spew your offensive blogs. Man looks on the outside but, God sees the heart. Intellegience, Character, and hopefully Integrity is what these women can possibly bring to this show and not the usual constant female babbling of nonsense and drama.
