I love me some 'Baldwin Hills.'
Full disclosure - I can't decide if I like this show because nothing beats the drama of high school kids or if it has to do with the fact that it's in Baldwin Hills, a community in Los Angeles where I spent a lot of my time growing up as a kid.
I'll go with the latter.
BET has rolled out their own version of MTV's 'Laguna Beach, dubbed the "reality docudrama" that focuses on 11 upper-middle-class teens in Baldwin Hills.
(For the record, Ladera Heights beats Baldwin Hills anyday of the week!)
Baldwin Hills is nicknamed the Black Beverly Hills for its large number of wealthy African-Americans who reside in the neighborhood.
And it's clear that a majority - - if not all - - of these kids are pretty well off financial thanks to their parents.
Actress Vanessa Bell Calloway (Ashley), former NBA basketball player and UCLA legend Marques Johnson (Moriah) and newly hired Sacramento Kings coach Reggie Theus (Roqui) all have kids featured on the show.
These are the type of shows that BET needs to do more of.
Yes, it's a total ripoff of 'Laguna Beach' but our stories are finally be told instead of the ones that you can find on MTV and that our audience can't relate to.

yo I LOve THis Show i Love the Fact That it is so real butt..no onee take the time to talk to there kids like thee parents on thee show so it helped some teens in a way i love to wach the show it remands me of my life and if i was on thee show i would live in thee hills because my parents have money but i live in hollywood!

Omg!!..i love Baldwin Hills i can't believe BET didn't come out with this show sooner. I love Lo'renia and the whole Moriah, Gerren beef.

I think the show is very entertaining, I love it! However, it's plain to see it is scripted.

It was kind of boring:( I was expecting more. They also need to upgrade the cameras, maybe those were used to make it look more real? Lastly they should have left Staci where they got her from because she doesn't know how to be real on a reality show!
P.S. Did you see the outfit Gerren had on at her house before the party and the outfit at the party, different?
