Since I questioned Anika Noni Rose and her decision to play Lavender, the security guard, it's only fair that I post a link to an interview that Rose did with Geoff Bennett from AOL Television. And in case you haven't heard yet, Rose will join Jill Scott on the big screen in the film 'The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency.
Rose will play Grace Makutsi, the secretary/assistant detective to Jill Scott's Precious Ramotswe.
Just to recap:
Dreamgirl (Dreamgirls)
Security Guard (Starter Wife)
Secretary (The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency)
Princess (The Princess and the Frog)
More Dreamgirl/Princess roles and less of the flashlight cop gigs...
I'm just saying....
"There were times when it felt crappy. I'm not going to lie," says Anika Noni Rose about being run down by the 'Dreamgirls' hype train.
Rose, who came to fame portraying one-third of the fictional girl group -- alongside Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson -- stars in the USA miniseries, 'The Starter Wife.' She plays Lavender, a no-nonsense security guard, who befriends Debra Messing as a down-on-her-luck, jilted wife.
Rose talked to AOL editor Geoff Bennett about why some women lose themselves in relationships. Then, she weighed in on being overlooked for her part in the biggest movie-musical hit of the year and broke the news of her next major role -- giving voice to Disney Animation's first black princess.
You can read the interview here.

She is a beautiful woman and I think taking role on " Starter Wife (which I love) is just something to keep her familiar with the public while she work on her bigger projects on the big screen..XO MB

Great actress! Dreamgirls was not her first job as by this comlumn seems to state(Rose, who came to fame portraying one-third of the fictional girl group -- alongside Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson --). She is a Broadway star who has won a Tony award. People fail to mention this when comparing her Beyonce and Jennifer H.
