If you work for Aetna, Toyota, Kellogg or Starbucks, you should be in good shape. At least so says Black Enterprise's third-annual list of the top 40 companies for diversity.Of course, you can never really measure which companies are best -- I'm sure many would argue owing your own business is the only way to go , and with any list, there are plenty of companies that just weren't counted. To make it easier to understand, BE came to their conclusions by "reaching out" (their words, not mine), to the CEOs and diversity executives in the top 1,000 publicly-traded companies in the US.
Their criteria: supplier diversity, senior management, board involvement, and employee base. Click here to see if your company made the list.

As with any list it always depends on who is counting because they can set the standards of measurment, but I believe the way to get a fair and accurate rating is to measure benefits because at the end of the day how companies treat their employees is what really counts and helps to determine current and future success. Happy employees equals high morale and an increase on the bottomline. Benefits matter in the long run.

I wonder by that statement how much investigation was really done. Or did BE just rely on statement and reports provided by the companies?

I wonder...can companies that pehaps have had some negative interactions or affiliations connected with the Black community (I.E. Denny's, Starbucks) BUY their way onto this list to help boost their business relationships (and profit margins) with the Black Community? Hmmm......
