One week later and it still sucks.

I'm officially bailing on 'House of Payne' after the storyline involving the wife being addicted to crack.
If I wanted to see a crackhead, I could walk to the end of my block and find one.
The laugh tracks over the scene where Curtis, the idiot father, suggests that Janine is a crackhead doesn't exactly portray the best image to kids who might be watching.
Nothing funny about a mother who is strung out on crack.
However, the president of Turner Entertainment Networks defends Perry's humorous approach on such a touchy subject in an interview with the LA Times.
"Tyler's method is to use humor to break the ice," Koonin said. "Curtis making jokes about this is a defense mechanism. You have to look at the whole package.
Back to the father for a second, that fool is straight up the worst.
He makes the show almost unwatchable.
Maybe I was expecting a Heathcliff Huxtable type male father figure when I started watching this show.
Curtis Payne is the total opposite of anything positive worth watching on television.
I really did expect better from Perry but I would be SHOCKED to see all 100 episodes air on TBS.
The ratings were amazing last week but if the writing continues at this level, people will stop watching.
Deuces, 'House of Payne.'

I'm with you. I tried to watch it, but it's no use. There is absolutely nothing funny about crack addiction,no matter how you slice it. I'm bailing out. The House of Payne is just too painful to watch.

I appreciated the episode, I would rather my kids see how it all starts, then to watch a show where the mother is looking all crazy, or standing on a street corner to sleep with whoever, whenever. She had a problem, and they dealt with it, in true Tyler Perry form. I am glad he did not defer from the way he gets his point across. If he had, I am sure the author of this blog would have a problem with Tyler trying to be like someone else. I appreciate Tyler, and I will continue to watch him. My kids were able to ask me questions and feel comfortable asking, and that made me comfortable.

It's not like two less viewers will ruin the show.

So we can put a brother down, but use this forum to get some customers? Wow... I guess I know what web site I WON'T be visiting. It's all good though.
Just because it's not side splitting laughter doesn't mean it's not funny and entertaining.

To me the subject matter was just not meant for a sitcom. Dealing with crack addiction is not a comedic situation. I don't knock a brother trying to make it, but maybe he should turn his sights to writing dramas rather than comedy.

we laugh at so many things in life. good or bad. but finally someone takes us to a place where we have to look at ourselves once again. there are a number of us who have to deal with a crackhead in the family. and we did just like the paynes. we made jokes because we didn't understand. now someone has the balls to let us see where we have let something so serious go on for so long. and we still get mad. Mr Perry has alway shown us a funny side to a serious problem. and now we want to bail on him. come on. i want to see the good things that come out of this.
