Only 98 more episodes to go. That's the good news after 'House of Payne' made its official debut Wednesday on TBS.
The bad news is, well, 98 more episodes to go.
If you think I'm kidding, Tyler Perry said that the network ordered 100 episodes of the show and they were only on episode 40 and would be filming until the rest of the year.
As for the show, the only difference between tonight's two episodes and the handful of episodes that aired last year were the cameo additions of Madea and Brown.
Otherwise, it was the same unfunny material that I remember from last year.
Madea and Brown made a noticeable difference.
I actually laughed once or twice.
But fans shouldn't get their hopes up on seeing them appear anytime soon.
"It's a one time deal tonight but who knows, she might show up from time to time," Perry said. "It just depends if I'm bored or not."
Or if the ratings stink, then it's time to put on the dress again.
Perry does a great job with his plays, but unfortunately, that same humor and writing doesn't seem to be coming across when writing for television.

I remember this show from another network and I couldn't take it. It was too dramatic to be funny considering the story line of a mother of Alan Payne's kids being on drugs. If they had added a song, it would have been like sitting in the theater watching one of his too much damn music plays.

I was expecting to see a good show...but I was definately let down. The show was rarely funny. I think I actually laughed only once or twice throughout both episodes. I was sadly dissapointed at perry's work in this.

Tylaer, I appreciate the effort, but the show is just not funny. It's the same unfunny storyline from last season. Hopefully, you will take the criticism & advice from your viewers & make some changes to your writing team. Sorry & good luck.

It was okay, it had its moments but I love Tyler, and I would support him. I am positive it will only get better.

I am a fan of tyler perry and I know that these were just the first two episodes, I believe that they are just going to get better. sometimes you have a slow start but once you get going, man you get going. just give it some time and support this man beacause he is doing this for us and I think that he is a gift from God and I appreciate him.

I love Tyler and his plays and even his movies (I have them all on DVD) but I have to agree with the other comments. It just wasn't as funny as I thought it should be. But I am going to give it a chance hopefully it will get better.

I was sorely disappointed. I did not go anywhere tonight waiting on the show. It was quite boring and the actors acted like the were doing a stage play. The characters was poorly chosen. Who is the neice inlaw she is so stiff. The little boy is too big to be playing a whimp. The husband is playing an old guy but looks young. Tyler come on you had a few good comeback lines but they were delievered poorly. And the filming looked like a boot leg cheep tape. And it is not my TV. My son is 18 and was not impressed either. I will hold on for more episodes because I have faith that you will make some changes. Tell them to stop waiting on their lines and move or something until their line comes up. Stop acting like you are doing a play. I believe in you, you can do it. I am not a fan of your plays but all of my family loves them. I love your movies more so I know it can be done by you, fingers crossed.
