Number 6 in the 'Grading the Gavels' series is 'Judge Hatchett' The Honorable Glenda Hatchett has been on the air since 2000 and the show has recently been renewed for an eighth season.
Hatchett is indeed a judge (A certain television judge informed me that not everyone on TV is actually an official judge) who actually got her first break in life working at Delta Airlines following law school at Emory University.
She was the highest-ranking African-American employee at Delta, serving as the public relations manager.
Impressive!
But how does Judge Hatchett stack up on the television screen?
She might seem like a charming person if you look at her but I have seen her tear into some kids who have been on her show.
Judge Hatchett is no joke. If you catch her show on a good day, you will see what I'm talking about.
But at the same time, she does spend a lot of time trying to improve the youth that step foot in her courtroom.
Found an interesting clip online from 'Judge Hatchett' that involves of all people ... Isaiah Washington.
Yes, that Isaiah Washington. This was before dropping the "F" bomb not once ... but twice.

his daddy is not in his life because he does't want to be. His mom has reported him and she has gotton in contact with him but he is dodging his responibility as a parent. Shavon doesn't even know his dad. He speaks well of him but has't even gotton the opportunity to talk to or see him at an age to know him. He steals within the home and outside to. We don't know where but we have found the evedience hidden in his room.
I would be so happy if you can help us. My daughter is about to loose her mind and I am looking to hear of him being murded. please help!

Judge Hatchett is an excellenet Judge and one who talks to the young and old with respect. She can be tuff when needed and also can use sensitivity along with great wisdom. She does not demean those who come before her, but she gives them a "good talking too" as well as solid judgement. My area changed her time to put Judges Alex and Christina in front of her, but I still try to catch her show.

As parents, when this singer comes to town, we need to boycott his show in STRONG force. I mean HUNDRENDS of mothers AND fathers boycotting his shows. In each city and every show until he stops his sickening behavior. His parents need to be contactacted and boycotted also. They DO STILL have some say in their child's life even if he is an adult. I do and my children may or may not listen to my advice, but I give it to them anyway. They are 46, 38 and 26 and I still tell them how I feel about what they do in life.
Parents can ALWAYS have an influence in their children's lives no matter what the ages.

Met Judge Hatchett at commencement exercises for Huston-Tillotson University's celebration of fifty years of excellence. She made a firery, powerful, presentation that made me more than proud to have been a member of the first graduating class fifty years ago and to have been president of that class. I watch her show daily and enjoy it to the fullest. She is tops in my rating.
