And who said the NAACP Image Awards couldn't be pulled off live? For the first time in the show's 38 year history, the Image Awards were held and televised live on Fox.
I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was holding their breath that nobody acted a fool or did anything to have Fox regret this decision but the show went off flawlessly.
Compared to the marathon Oscars last Sunday, the two hours flew by it seemed like.
Rap legend LL Cool J hosted the awards and even with a disclaimer at the top of the show explaining he has never done this before, he still managed to do a good job.
No jokes. No comedy. No shucking and jiving. He said his lines and got out of the way - as any good host should do.
As for the star of the show, it was without a doubt Bono. The lead singer of U2 received the NAACP's Chairman Award and took the crowd to church with his compelling and touching speech about eliminating poverty in the world.

I enjoyed the awards. I missed the name of the opening act. They were very powerful. If anyone knows the name and the name of the song I would greatly appreciate it.thanks.

I didn't see much of the awards but I did catch Bono. He was AWESOME! It was like being in a Baptist church on a Sunday morning...he really said what needed to say about charity, giving to others unselfishly both here and abroad. He, undoubtedly, deserved the award and kudos to the NAACP for recognizing his efforts!

I thought the show was one of the best; however I felt it would have been appropriate for LL to take his HAT off.

did anyone catch LL's line about Obama, he did a good job hosting, and it was live, minimal mistakes

It's unfortunate that Isiah Washington was given an award despite his recent homophobic remarks. How would the audience have felt if an Oscar had been given to an actor who referred to a co-star by the "n word"?

The NAACP awards were awesome to beginning, to the end, LL did a great job and I'm glad that they decided to keep it elegant.
