Day 1 of the Television Critics Association Conference

Comments (4)

I am at the Ritz Carlton Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, California at the bi-yearly Television Critics Association Conference for cable programming.

(Sometimes I pretend to be a real journalist)

This is the conference where all the cable networks announce new programming that is coming down the pipeline.

Here is an update on what new shows you should look out for from Day 1...

Oxygen:

Two new shows are expected in the Spring from the network that is geared toward and started by women.

'Who Cares About Girls' is a documentary series hosted by journalist Lisa Ling that will explore threatening issues facing young girls around the world and will combine advocacy elements with acquired and original programming by award-winning filmmakers.

The first of two documentaries will explore mothers in prison and to find out what life is like for the daughters of these women. The second will take a look at young girls in India who have been forced into the slave labor market.

'Who Cares About Girls' premieres Sunday, March 25th at 10:00p.m.

Tori Spelling & Dean McDermott have a yet to be titled reality show debuting in the Spring about their venture into running a Bed and Breakfast. The married couple is investing Spelling's entire life savings and her $800,000 inheritance into opening a B&B.

Both Spelling and McDermott were here answering questions about the show and both are equally annoying. No wonder Candy Spelling only left her $800G when her father Aaron passed away.

Tori Spelling & Dean McDermott's Reality Show premieres Spring 2007.

TV One:

The fastest growing cable network, TV One, was on hand to talk about the Trumpet Awards which air in March along with two original pieces of programming on the network.

'Bill Bellamy's Who's Got Jokes' has been one of TV One's more successful original programs since hitting the air last year. Bellamy was on hand to announce that the semi-finals are set to air in January.

What makes 'Who Got Jokes' stand out from other comedy programs is the fact that the comedians must keep the jokes clean or otherwise they are docked points.

The winner of the competition will get his or her own comedy show on TV One, and you, the viewers, decide it all via text messaging and the Internet.

Fresh off watching his boys get punked by the University of Florida in the National Championship game, former Ohio State and NFL great Eddie George along with wife Taj were on hand to announce his new reality show called 'I Married A Baller.'

The reality series aims at following around the wives of sports figures and their husbands. The first season is focused on the George family.

You might remember wife Taj from the R&B group SWV. Both Eddie and Taj were extremely funny and engaging and George even challenged current 'Dancing With The Stars' champion Emmitt Smith to a dance off.

If the national title game is any reflection of that showdown, George might be in over his head.

'I Married A Baller' premieres April 2007 on TV One.
